Whilst studying for a Diploma of Theatre Arts at Swinburne, I discovered that it is possible to write, perform and produce your own work and not to waste time waiting around for the opportunities to come to you. Instead, I found it to be far more advantageous to get out there and make my opportunities. Essentially that is what Theatre on Toast is all about; it enables young Australians with a passion for theatre to have a chance to get out there and just do it. I completed the course in December of 2007 and am currently completing the NEIS program which will equip me with the knowledge and support to ensure that Theatre on Toast is a successful business. The first project for the company is a touring primary school production of ‘Billi’s Backyard’ which starts touring in term 2 of this year. I also aim to get a secondary school touring production, about sexual health to be up and running by semester 2 and of course a season in the 2008 Melbourne Fringe Festival for ‘Control’.
